In 2000 Guerra Freitas invited an exciting group of musicians from
different parts of the world, living in Chicago, to help him record
the "CD Angola: Um Pais Fabuloso No Mundo," or Angola: A Fabulous
Country in English, with songs he has written. The project turned up
to be a huge success!

The following are the participants of the CD project: Guerra Freitas
(guitar & vocals), Rosa Freitas (vocals), Dr. Helen Hudgens (piano
& vocals in "Para Nos Angolanos" song), Paul James (base
guitar), Tim NcNamara (flute), Ya Ya Kabo (percussions), Tim Daizy (percussions
in "Love Is All We Need" song). Douglas Jones engineered,
mastered and, along with Guerra Freitas, co-produced the CD at the Columbia
College Department of Audio Arts & Acoustics Studio, with the generous
support from students and staff. Paul Beatty donated the guitar Guerra
Freitas used to write and compose the songs. Additionally, he coordinated
the transportation of the artists to and from the studios.
Having born and grown up in Angola, and having directly affected by
the Angolan conflict, Guerra Freitas has been engaged in humanitarian
projects to ease the suffering of the needy people in the world.
The CD is dedicated to every Angolan. It is about the beauty of Angola.
It is about the contrast between wealth and poverty, peace and war,
lives and deaths of loved ones. It is about unity national reconciliation
and reconstruction. The CD is also loaded with messages of love, justice
and fairness. Above all, it is prayer for peace for every family on

All the proceeds for the CD sales will benefit SHARE, a 501 (C)(3)
organization working in Angola. In the presence of a humanitarian crisis
in Angola, since 1999, SHARE along with partner organizations, has been
supplying food, clothing, school kits, health kits, sawing kits to Orphans
of War, Widows of War, Single Mothers and Internally Displaced People
caught in the midst of a terrible war.
During 2001, combined SHARE appeals resulted in the providence of commodities
valued at about $ 200,000.00 for emergency humanitarian assistance to
Orphans of War, Widows of War, Single Mothers and Internally Displaced
People in Bié province, Angola. Since 1999, SHARE in coordination
with its partners, assisted more than 25,000 people torn form their
homes and loved one by the four decade long war in Angola. But the work
of SHAREcircle in Angola is far from done. With the advent of peace,
there is a surge in the internally displaced people and refugees to
return to their areas of origin. This poses significant constraints
on the resources, because there are no infrastructures to accommodate
the returnees. That is why SHARE, and other agencies have to play a
bigger role.
